Happy Earth Day!

Southern Boulevard School celebrated Earth Day today! We had a special demonstration of the watershed to show us how we can prevent pollution from entering our water supply. We also watched The Lorax on the big screen. That movie reminded us how we need to protect our natural resources like trees to keep our Earth and the environment clean. Yesterday in social studies, 3P and Mrs. Conti discussed how people all over the Earth need to protect the water supply from pollution, so we have enough clean water to drink.

What have you learned from this week's activities? What is the most important thing you've learned about protecting our environment?
Do you have any more suggestions on how to help keep our environment clean?
What will you do differently now that you've learned so much? What can you do at home to make your home more eco-friendly?

Hi Mr.Palladino,
I think Earth Day was really fun and educational!I learnes alot on Earth Day. I also learned that we have to be careful with our water and how we use it because we are running out of water. On Earth Day I also learnedabout pollution. I think that a way to help the earth is by picking up litter from parks, streets and mostly my neighborhood. I think that if everybody helps to clean up the earth in one way or another our earth will be a very clean place!

Hey Mr. P.
I was very excited Earth Day was coming up! First because it's important to keep the earth healthy so we and all living things can live on earth. Second, I was looking forward to lots of fun activities. Most of all I liked it when we watched the movie Lorax and when we did the project. What I learned was that it is important to keep the earth healthy by planting trees, saving water, and not wasting energy. I also liked the Passaic River cleanup on Saturday with my family. We picked up all the trash that people dumped in the woods. At the end we found a little baby bunny and it showed us that when we the enviorment clean it can help lots of cute animals.

3P,
You've written some great responses so far, but I'd love to hear more feedback from the rest of the class.

jetsrock15, I'm so proud of how you volunteered your time to help clean up the woods! It's very clear that our actions DO make a difference to the plants, the animals, and our planet! Keep up the fantastic work!

Hey Mr. P,
One way I can save water is turn off the water when I'm brushing my teeth.

Yo-
I can help make the world a better place by cleaning up at neighborhood gatherings so there won't be as much dirty water.
-Peace
(P.s. those little kids make such a mess. no wonder the water is so polluted!)

Hey, Mr.P!
I think Earth Day was cool. The watershed demonstration was awesome, and "The Lorax" was good. I think that people can save water by taking shorter showers, and turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth.

p.s. baseball kid 16, what's with the "hola" ?

Dear Mr.Palladino,
I've learned this week that you need to keep clean in our environment and if you pollute stuff, it all goes in the lake or the river. The most important thing that I learned this week is that when it rains, a lot of trash goes on the fields and in the water. I would clean the environment by recycling and not polluting and I'm going to drink how much water I will only drink. What I'm going to do differently is I'll drink how much wter that I need to drink.I could not pollute my yards and I recycle. That is my report about Earth Day!

I think I can help the Earth by cleaning our watershed. I wonder if there is a T-shirt factory in Chatham.

Hi Mr. Palladino, I know a really good way to help clean the earth. Take quicker showers, turn off the lights when you're not in the room, and turn off the water when you're brushing your teeth. That's all I have to help clean the earth.

Hi Mr.P
HHHHHAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYY
EARTH DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can help the earth by picking up after myself and by using the other side of paper. On Earth Day I think it's really inportant to help the enviorment because everyday people in this world treat mother nature the way she doesn't want to be treated so thats why I think Earth Day is REALLY special for all of us and mother nature to.

Hey guys! I didn't find the NJ ASK to be as hard as I thought it would be. I mean, you get all crazy over practically nothing. The language arts was easier than the math, I think. The math was kind of hard. Anyway, I like "Horton Hears a Who' so far. It's almost over. #18, if you read this, you missed a good movie. #17, let's keep working on Microsoft Powerpoint, okay? Mr.Palladino, you know how I said that the chair was only special if you were sitting in it? Well, guess what.
I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. A girl like me is faithful, one hundred percent!! :) :) :)

Connie!

Of course I remember you!

Cheer up! I'm sure you're learning lots of great things at Lafayette and in 5th grade. Think of all the friends you're making and the memories you're creating. I know it's more work than I used to give you in 3rd grade, but I know you're up to the challenge!

Thanks for checking in on the blog. If you're ever at SBS, make sure to come visit your old classroom!

Take care,
Mr. Palladino :)
